Scrap market
Global economy including metallurgy is slowly overcoming the crisis.
Scrap stockpiles at steel mills are gradually being run down, which means that the prices will go up.
Actually, the increase has already started.
Once a shortage occurs, the prices will boost at once!
Russian scrap processing industry recently was one of the world biggest importers.
However, orders number decrease during the crisis forced several companies to leave the industry.
Scrap export from Russia dropped by 60% in 2011, domestic scrap collecting reduced by 40%.
In 2012 the situation is likely to change: Russian scrap will go for export again!
And there are some premises for it as follows.
- Lots of modernized and newly built electric arc furnaces in Russia, which are fed by scrap only are not likely to be fully loaded in 2010.
- Domestic construction sector has a weak perspective to boost this year.
- International demand for steel, especially long products, which was recently giving some hints to improve, may not meet the expectations.
- Regular payments delays by local scrap consumers make overseas buyers more attractive.
This forces Russian suppliers to optimize their scrap and cash flows, including overseas sales.
It is very important today for both exporters from Russia and importers from other countries to meet their peers and customers to discuss current situation in the market and to conclude agreements.
The 8th Scrap Market conference provides such an opportunity!
This event also welcomes scrap handling and processing equipment suppliers, who will meet there Russian companies interested in new offers in this market.
200 thousand cars are planned to be recycled in 2012 according to new state car recycling program which has started in Russia in March 2011.
Car recycling yards need new equipment and the conference is a right time and place for the suppliers to present themselves in Russia.
